I am excited to share some amazing news from SMHS golf. Two exceptional senior captains have received prestigious honors from Youth on Course, a national non-profit dedicated to making golf accessible to young people. Their membership in Youth on Course, which offers rounds for just $5 at participating courses, has significantly contributed to their development as golfers.

Posting weekly updates of our league season this year seems somewhat like Groundhog Day. Yesterday, we hosted the tournament at Santa Maria Country Club. It was a bit cool but overall good golf weather. The course is in fantastic condition, not quite Augusta National for the Masters, but better than any other local course.

The boys golf team hosted Cabrillo and Righetti at Santa Maria Country Club yesterday. The 18 boys, six from each school, battled the wind and cool temperatures ending with pretty good scores for the day. Both of our opponents are in the Sunset League and our hope was to finish close to them. I think we accomplished that. The boys scored a season low 494. While we were not really that close to RHS & CHS in terms of the scoreboard, we were much closer than the previous times we played them this season. Gotta recognize small victories.

The boy's golf team entered official league play yesterday as we squared off against the other four Ocean League teams in our first tournament of the season. Hosted by PVHS at Black Lake GC, we couldn’t have asked for better weather to start the season.
